Amidst the lush green hills of West Sumatra, a young rebel’s journey becomes intertwined with a profound struggle for identity. His strict scholar father, steeped in tradition and conservative beliefs, finds himself at odds with the fiery passion of his son. As the young rebel navigates the complexities of his family’s past, he embarks on a perilous self-funded pilgrimage to Mecca, a journey that will forever change the course of his life. This odyssey takes him to the city of Medina, where he will discover his destiny to reform Indonesian Islam and find the love of his life. The journey is not without its challenges, as the young rebel must confront his own biases and preconceptions in order to forge a new path forward. Ultimately, it is in the heart of Mecca that he finds his true calling, one that will inspire a new generation of Indonesian Muslims to think critically and embrace change.
